The Advanced Open Water Diver course is one that is full of choices. Unlike other PADI courses, you have a choice of dive options available: and you can select the ones that are the most interesting or the most challenging to you.
The Advanced Open Water Diver course is there to advance your training and you can start as soon as you have completed the Open Water Diver certification.
Each dive counts as one dive towards the corresponding specialty diver courses.
You will complete 5 Adventure Dives from the Advanced Open Water Course, and this time the Deep Dive and the Navigation Dive are mandatory.
There is no exam in this course – just practical fun!

Who should take this course?

Minimum age = 12 (Young divers may only participate in certain Adventures Dives – check with your Scuba Monkey Instructor.)

What will you learn?

There are two mandatory dives for the Advanced Open water Certification: the Deep Dive and the Navigation Dive. Your Scuba Monkey Instructor will help you choose the further 3 optional adventure dives and ask you to submit your knowledge development questions for each section.
You will learn how to use a compass both above and below the surface for your navigation dive, combined with kick cycles, visual land marks and time.
You will learn how to plan dives to deal with the physiological effects and challenges associated with deep diving

How can you start learning now?

Sign up for Advanced Open Water Diver Online via Scuba Monkey’s eLearning option – to get started immediately. The web-based system lets you learn about seven of the most popular Adventures Dives – including the required Deep and Underwater Navigation Adventure Dives, plus Boat, Night, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Naturalist and Wreck Adventure Dives. You study at your own pace through an easy to use, interactive program. You also have access to an online version of the Adventures in Diving manual and can complete sections for other Adventure Dives as directed by your PADI Instructor.

You can also choose to read the Adventures in Diving manual and watch the Adventures in Diving video (a book and DVD package). Stop by Scuba Monkey to enroll in the course, get your materials and start learning. Your Scuba Monkey Instructor will meet with you to schedule knowledge review sessions along with your Adventure Dives.

What scuba gear will you use?

Beyond using basic scuba equipment, you’ll need a compass. You’ll also use specialized gear depending on the Adventure Dives you choose… Your Scuba Monkey Instructor will explain the equipment that you need and may suggest additional gear, such as dive light for night diving or lift bag for search and recovery diving.
Visit Scuba Monkey to learn more about the gear you will need to start your adventures in the Advanced Open Water Diver course.

What will my card look like?

Scuba Monkey is 100% AWARE – you get a choice of a limited edition certification card (manta ray, shark or PADI Logo) as well as helping the planet. Scuba Monkey donates 10 euro automatically to PROJECT AWARE. We do it because we care!
